Low Grocery Prices for Nov. 15-21

Here are the sales I’ve sifted with my Price Book data for the Longview, Texas area as the items at the lowest end of their price range.  I hope this helps you with your grocery budget!  Check back every Wednesday for the latest deals, Thursdays for a corresponding Meal Plan, and Fridays for the absolute best stock-up picks!

In addition to these great seasonal deals, you may want to check out my Where to Buy Staples page for observations on the lowest local prices on everyday grocery essentials.

Honeysuckle Whole Turkey for $0.39/lb at Albertson’s.  Limit 1 with an additional $25 purchase.  There are slightly better deals at other stores (mentioned below), but this is a good one if you just want to go to Albertson’s!

Community Coffee, 12oz Ground or Whole Bean for $3.33 at Albertson’s.  There is a limit 3 on these and this sale is only good Friday – Sunday.  Regularly $3.47-$6.19.  Check your manufacturer coupon stash to see if you can make this deal even better, but beware because Albertson’s is pretty picky about their coupon policy.

Asparagus for $0.99/lb at Albertson’s.  I am pretty surprised to see Asparagus this low at a store like Albertson’s and not Aldi – personally I will be checking to see if Aldi has it cheaper and just didn’t advertise it.  BUT, this is the lowest I have seen Asparagus, so it’s a great deal!  The sale is only running Friday – Sunday also.  Regularly $0.99-$2.99, and it’s usually only on sale in March… Hmmm…

Boxed Stuffing for $0.79 at Aldi.  Regularly $0.99-$1.49.

Organic Carton Broth for $1.49 at Aldi.  Regularly $1.78.

Cream Cheese, 8oz for $0.79 at Aldi.  Regularly $0.79-$2.99 depending on the brand.  It has been $0.79 frequently this year, and I always grab a few blocks, but it was $0.89 last week.  I’m glad it’s back to $0.79!  I’m craving some pumpkin-cream something-er-other… 🙂  FYI, cream cheese freezes nicely.

Pie Crusts for $1.39 at Aldi.  My husband is a bit of a pie snob and he said these crusts were right up there with name brand 🙂  Regularly $1.39-$2.79.  These freeze well!

Celery for $0.49 at Aldi.  Regularly $0.50-$2.69 – talk about a price variation!  It dropped one cent, this is a record low!  And people say grocery prices are going up… 😉

Whole Cranberries, 12oz for $0.79 at Aldi.  Whoa!  I had no idea they were going to drop to this price and stocked up when they were $0.99 last week.  Congratulate yourself if you didn’t get any last week, you can get them now for a better price!

Whole Pineapple for $0.79 at Aldi.  Regularly $0.79-$1.19, they are usually only this price in October, November, and December.  You will probably see this price for a couple of weeks.  Nothing like fresh pineapple!

Organic Salad Greens 16oz for $2.99 at Aldi.  This is SUCH a seasonal product, as the price swings from $1.99 (in January) to $6.29 in the off-season at other stores.  It is regulary $3.79 at Aldi though, which is good to know.  But since this is a weekly buy for my family, I thought it was worth reporting!  I think most of us eat greens year round, and unfortunately we can’t freeze these and enjoy them for this price all year.  But expect to see some salads on the meal plan next week! 😀

Yellow Onions for $0.26/lb at Aldi.  Sold in a 3lb bag.  Regularly $0.23-$1.99/lb.  Price drops in February, April, and November.

Sweet Potatoes for $0.16/lb at Aldi.  Sold in a 3lb bag.  Whoa!  Another record low!  Sweet potatoes are regularly $0.23-$0.98/lb, and their price is only this low in November.  I will be dicing them up and freezing for skillet meals and hubby’s breakfast burritos.  I’ve also made Sweet Potato Waffles with them which are interesting.

Russet Potatoes for $0.10/lb at Aldi.  Really it’s $0.09999999… etc. per pound – 10lb bag for $0.99.  Regularly $0.10-0.60/lb.  This is the time to enjoy some potatoes!

Kroger Frozen Vegetables 32oz for $1.79 at Kroger.  Buying in bigger bags is a better deal than the $1 for 12oz bag that they frequently have.  Regularly $1.79-$2.49.

Craisins 5-6oz for $1.49 at Kroger.  What a treat these are!  Regularly $1.49-$2.49.  While these are not part of the “Buy 10” event, there is a stipulation on them.  They are part of a Buy 4 deal in which you have to buy 4 participating items (they are all cranberry stuff – Ocean Spray juice and cranberry Mocktails).  However this is the only item I’ve tracked prices on since we don’t really buy juice or specialty beverages.  But you can decide for yourself how you want to do this one 🙂

USDA Choice Bone-In Ribeye Roast or Steak for $4.99/lb at Kroger.  The roast is regularly $5.77-$5.99, and the steak is usually $4.99-$8.99, so you can decide what the best value is 🙂  Usually only on sale once a year.

Honeysuckle Whole Turkey for $0.37/lb at Super 1.  This is a once-a-year sale that will probably last for a couple of weeks until Thanksgiving.  Aside from perhaps needing one for Thanksgiving turkey, this is the smartest meat purchase you can make this year.  After it is cooked and deboned, the meat yield is $1.12/lb, which is the lowest that I’ve calculated compared to all other meat that I’ve looked at.  You can look on my Project Chicken page for a more detailed comparison.  I would recommend planning (if it’s in your budget and you have space in your freezer) getting as many as you can every week that this sale price runs.  Like last week and the week before, this week there is a limit of 2 turkeys (they are an average of 8-24lbs each) and you have to spend an additional $25 at Super 1 to qualify for this price.  However, if you spend it on some of the other great deals at Super 1 this week (like the following items), it will be money well-spent!

Condensed Soups 10oz for $0.50 at Super 1.  These are regularly $0.48-1.00 each, and to be honest I haven’t compared them to the larger family size cans (which are probably cheaper per ounce).  But one of my favorite ways to make (non THM) potato soup is to add a can or two of cream of mushroom or chicken soup and I was really wishing for some the other day when I had a big group to feed!  So this caught my eye, and it might be a good way to spend that $25 if you plan on taking advantage of their on-sale turkey!

Super 1 Toilet Paper 18 Roll for $5 at Super 1.  This is a frequent sale that runs even when it is isn’t advertised in the circulars.  Okay, so TP is a really hard thing to compare with it’s various lengths, roll sizes, ply-counts, etc., not to mention it really kind of comes down to a preference thing for many folks.  However, certain people – who will remain nameless – in this household require 2-ply double rolls and this is the best price per roll at about $0.28/roll.  The lowest that Kroger’s generic brand, Home Sense gets is $0.33 per roll, and the lowest I have been able to get Angel Soft with a sale plus a coupon is $0.31 cents a roll.  So there, now you know why we buy our TP at Super 1!

80/20 Ground Beef for $1.97/lb at Super 1.  Sold in a 5lb chub.  80/20 ground beef is one of the better values in beef when it comes down to how much meat it yields after cooking.  See the Project Chicken page for comparison. It does go on sale for lower sometimes, the range is $1.89-$3.99, but this is still a decent price and we haven’t seen a good ground beef sale in a while!

Enjoy!  Let me know what you’re excited to get!
